Homeless Outreach
Through the Homeless Outreach Program, the Golden Triangle BID engages in constructive approaches to helping homeless persons advance from life on the streets to a life of independence, good health and stability. The BID contracts outreach workers to develop relationships with homeless people not only to provide for their basic needs but also to link them with services that help get them off the street. These services range from acts as simple as providing a bus token so that a homeless person can get to a job interview to those as complex as convincing someone to enroll in mental health or addiction services.
The efforts of the Golden Triangle's outreach team to assess vulnerability led to the housing of 18 of the Golden Triangle's most chronically homeless individuals in 2011.
The BID also works closely with property managers and retailers on a case-by-case basis on issues related to homelessness in the neighborhood.
