Golden Triangle Woos Downtown Workers with Valentine's Day Flowers and Restaurant Week Specials

Washington, D.C. [February 12, 2009] – With Valentine’s Day just around the corner and DC’s Restaurant Week heating up two days later, the Golden Triangle Business Improvement District (BID) is getting area workers in the mood for both by handing out free carnations at Metro stations along with information about the Golden Triangle restaurants participating in this winter’s Restaurant Week.

More than 500 flowers will be handed out by Golden Triangle Ambassadors Friday morning to workers as they emerge from the Dupont Circle South, Farragut North, and Farragut West Metro stations on their way to the office. Attached to the flowers will be a postcard with a list of the Golden Triangle’s 22 participating Restaurant Week restaurants and their contact information.

“In this economy, the competition for people’s attention is fierce, which is why we decided to get the word out in a creative way about the amazing restaurant deals in this neighborhood,” said Leona Agouridis, executive director of the Golden Triangle BID. “With Valentine’s Day and Restaurant Week back-to-back this year, we’re taking steps to grab people’s attention by offering free flowers and encouraging them to consider Golden Triangle restaurants for both occasions,” said Agouridis.

“You may be taking your sweetheart out to one of the four-star, romantic restaurants in our neighborhood on Valentine’s Day, but with three-course dinners for $35.09 starting just two days later, why not come back and have more great—and affordable—dining experiences here over the next week as well?” said Agouridis.
