Flowers for Phones
Tuesday, April 22 - Wednesday, April 23 | 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Farragut Square Park (Connecticut Avenue/K Street)
Duke Ellington Park (21st Street/M Street)
Celebrate Earth Day at the 7th Annual Flowers for Phones Exchange at Farragut Square Park. Drop off a used phone to be recycled at one of the above locations and exchange it for a marigold. Recycle a collection of old phones for a chance to win a $100 gift certificate to any Golden Triangle restaurant.
There are 500 million used cell phones sitting around that can pollute the environment and threaten human health. By recycling cell phones, the amount of toxic metals leeching into soil and groundwater can be reduced. To learn more about the recycling program and data security, visit our partners Earthworks.
As long as your phone has been deactivated from service, there aren’t security or privacy concerns. All makes and models of mobile phones, pagers, and PDAs are accepted—along with batteries, chargers, and other accessories. For more details about the event, email firstname.lastname@example.org at the BID.
