Recycle your cell phone and get a free flower

Tuesday, April 9 & Wednesday, April 10
11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (rain or shine)

Farragut Square Park (Connecticut Avenue/K Street) +  Duke Ellington (21st Street/M Street)

Help make the Golden Triangle Clean, Green & Golden this spring by participating in our Flowers for Phones event.

Drop off a used phone to be recycled at one of the above locations on April 9 and 10 and you get a free potted flower to take home and a chance to win one of many cool prizes from Golden Triangle businesses.

There are 500 million used cell phones sitting around that can pollute the environment and threaten human health. By recycling cell phones, the amount of toxic metals leeching into soil and groundwater can be reduced.

As long as your phone has been deactivated from service, there aren’t security or privacy concerns. All makes and models of mobile phones, pagers, and PDAs are accepted—along with batteries, chargers, and other accessories. For more details on what can be recycled visit Earthworks, the Golden Triangle BID's partner responsible for recycling the phones. Or, email mmoore@goldentriangledc.com at the BID for additional information about the event.
