Archaeologists Terry Hunt and Carl Lipo offer a daring new theory on the statues of Easter Island. For decades, the deforestation of the island to provide rollers to move the islands’ iconic giant statues has been cited as the cause of the native population’s collapse. Suggesting a radically different account of the island’s history, Hunt and Lipo will explain their theory, and describe how their work has led them to their challenging conclusions.
