L is a crime-solving prodigy with a knack for cracking cases and a serious sweet tooth. When a group of environmental terrorists decide to cleanse the Earth's excessive population by unleashing a deadly manmade virus, his case-cracking skills are put to the test. With a tight deadline and millions of lives on the line, L must track down the eco-terrorists and see that the virus is kept under wraps. But by signing his own name in the Death Note, he's left himself only 23 days to bring the terrorists to justice.

The third in a series of live-action films inspired by the best-selling manga series by Tsugumi Ohba, L: Change the World was the opening-night attraction at the 2008 Udine Far East Film Festival and was a major box-office success in Japan. Death Note and its follow-up Death Note 2: The Last Name were also shown at the JICC in the summers of 2008 and 2009. Japanese with English subtitles. 129 min, 2009. Directed by Hideo Nakata.
