ReShell Smith: Hotel Lombardy
Originally an apartment building built in the 1920s, the building at 2019 Pennsylvania Avenue was transformed during the 1970s into Hotel Lombardy—a classic, European style hotel. ReShell Smith, the hotel's Director of Sales and Marketing, has been with the hotel for three years and loves its intimate boutique atmosphere. For instance, ReShell pointed out that Lombardy is the only hotel in Washington, DC to have a manually operated elevator, with a person who still takes you up to your floor.
"I like that Hotel Lombardy is a smaller boutique hotel," ReShell said. "I used to travel for work a lot and stayed at big hotel chains. We're able to offer a more personal level of service and can greet our guests by name."
That personal service and intimate atmosphere also carry over to the hotel's bistro, Cafe Lombardy, which ReShell boasts as having the best french toast in the city, and the Venetian Room, a cozy lounge with a fireplace where people can gather for a quiet happy hour.
